which do you value more outside shooting or range?

Depends a lot on the position ...

Guards I'd definitely lean towards range, since I can't seem to find a setting to get them to limit the 3 attempts, even if they're bad at them. Set to - prio, i or even capital I ... I still find they end up popping a ton of attempts from 3pt land.

Power forward, I definitely like a stretch 4 with high OS, over range ... since they tend to get fouled more, it's like double dipping value... spotting up 15 foot jumpers, and hitting a high FT%. A *lot* of teams seem to have terrible perimeter defense PFs, so it is something to look at - in terms of exploiting the matchups.

Slowing the pace should do the trick at least to some extent.

As for the OP question, I guess I'll answer the same. Range for guards, OS for others.

I'll admit I haven't tried slowing the pace in a LONG time. Finding a lot of teams running 50%+ pressure defense, so running ~ or -1 pace just seems like a death sentence. Basically feels like the squad just keeps passing the ball around until it gets stolen.

If the choice comes down to a bad 3pt attempt, or a steal and likely an ensuing fast break ... I'll take the bad 3pt attempt.

Really missed http://onlinecollegebasketball.org/player/39974 this season, though even he suffered a bit against high pressure teams. Kind of feels like the tactics is very much able to overpower the statistics of the players involved. You'd think he would've been an ideal press beater. *shrugs*

I also didn't like my players shooting too many 3's so I've been playing with low pace (usually around -2, although I've tried even -5) for a couple of seasons now and it definitely got better. I also haven't noticed any significant correlation between my pace and opponents pressure when it comes to stealing.

My worst games actually came against teams using less than 10% pressure (just look at the most recent one against Southern Vermont... 2.5% pressure and 12 steals, disgusting). :/
