I'm sure there's a good reason for it not being in the game, but I would really like the ability to cut scholarship players and free up scholarships. Like maybe there could be an option to inform a player that they wouldn't be on the team next year, so you would have an extra scholarship to recruit with.

I think it is good you can't cut players because it makes you deal with poor recruiting decisions. IRL you can't cut a player unless they have academic or personal problems. For example, something like not developing is not a valid reason IRL. The coach could make your life miserable or never play you but can't cut you. I'm starting to want my scholarship for Frank Takagi back, but I took a gamble on his development and it hasn't worked out. I shouldn't be able to ditch that poor decision.

I see you are a fairly new manager and you probably would have liked all 13 scholarships right away to rebuild, but it just doesn't work like that. This game gives respect to players by letting them get their full scholarship.

IRL scholarships are renewed annually.. they are not guaranteed for 4/5 years. So you absolutely can cut player IRL between seasons. That said, it could reflect poorly on the coach/university if they made a habbit of it.

My bad there, forgot renewal scholarships are a thing, and the norm. Most guys I know are on full years since that has become more popular in football with the portal, some Schools have utilized it as a way to get a leg up in recruiting. So going off IRL then you should be able to, but I still think not being able to is best so that you are forced to accept your poor decisions.

It really depends on what era we're talking about. Now days with the transfer portal, these kids are free agents every season.
