"Very High is the highest reported interest level, but every contact you put into a recruit will still raise the underlying interest score -- so there is no "cap"." - quote from our Gamemaster

Look at rosters across the nation.

Recruit NY, NJ and PA players to start with. Players consistently sign LOIs from their local schools, and it costs those schools less recruiting contact points to raise their interest.

A quickly-written recruiting trail list:

PG IQ, passing, ball handling, speed
SG outside shooting, speed
SF outside shooting, good all-around defense, speed, taller than SG and PG
PF inside shooting, rebounding, tall player
C inside shooting, rebounding, tall player

I’m new to the recruiting system, and I’m trying to understand how recruits decide which school to commit to. Is it based purely on the highest interest level, or is it similar to waivers in Broken Bat?

For example, if multiple teams have interest in a recruit, do they always go to the team with the highest interest, or do other factors affect the decision? Is it possible for a team with lower interest to still land the recruit? and how much does proximity, playing time, team prestige, etc. play apart in the commitment

What is the playing time based on?

Interest level. All student athletes graduate from the school that they committed to or walked-on at. There are no cuts, nobody leaves early for the pros, no one drops out, no one flunks out, no one gets expelled. There is no transfer portal. There are no waivers or relief for players in Hardwood because there is no governing body to hear any appeals or facilitate transfers like we have IRL.

No, they do not always commit to their favorite school. That school may not have offered a scholarship (check mark) in comparison to another school that did offer. A student with low interest can and has signed a LOI even though they had medium interest elsewhere. Students only commit if there is a scholarship offer. Some presidents do not offer during contacts.

Kids know about their nearby schools, so less contact points are required to raise their interest. If you have four and five star players on the roster (ratings from the Recruiting Service), a prospect may not like the competition for playing time. League level and prestige are important. Teams that redshirt players may cause a recruit to be less interested in signing a LOI.

Seems to be based on a school's open scholarships at the time of contact. Seems to be based on the roster. Could be based on a player's preferred position on the court.
