It seemed to work very well except for this inexcusable loss to the 16 seed. I would be interested in understanding if the successful coaches look at their depth chart/tactics before each and every game? I want to do a retro on what I could have done better (knowing that I did have a key injury during the game) for this game as I don't think a loss to the 16 seed should have happened. |

I usually change my game tactics every game based on opponent tendencies. In particular - the 'extend defense' based on if the opposing team plays more inside or outside. I also look at individual matchups and make changes in Game Management. I don't make changes that often but if something is really outside the norm on an opponent (i.e. their starting SF has an SI of 90) then I make changes. Lastly, I have found that conference tournament games can be kind of weird in the results. One season 7/8 of the underdogs won in the first round. I don't know if it is because of neutral-sight games or what, but sometimes the results are not what you expect. |

I think there was only one season where I seldomly did that, and that was only because my team was strong everywhere so I just played to my strengths and let everyone else try to figure out how to beat me.

This is only my 5th season playing but I've experienced good success. Basically depending on the team I play I check their team stats and opponent stats and based off of categories like turnovers a game, points in the paint, fastbreak points and ect. I change the pace or pressure my team gives. Also looking at the opponent player stats and attributes let's me know if certain opponents players can handle the ball, can they play defense, their speed and other things like that, and based off my finding I might change my line-up or how my player plays based off the matchup. It is hard to isolate what changes are needed if you are making multiple adjustments every game. I usually leave the settings pretty stable for the first half of the season and only change one setting at a time (if at all) to see the impact clearly. Later on in a season, I may make broader/bigger adjustments based on a matchup, but when I have a strong team I prefer to follow the "El Jefe" method and let the other team try to figure out how to beat me. |

I haven't changed the tactic at all this season and I have been prompted to league 2. With that said, I really don't think the tactic setting in this game do a whole lot. it all boils down to the numbers that you team has and where because numbers is what wins games imo... How is it possible to know if your tactic is winning or losing games. I didn't see much difference in the outcome. If the other team has the numbers and he has the players playing where they should then he's going to beat me and a different tactic is not going to change it.. They dont have better players they dont have better depth but will still beat a top team. Why? Because they are a bad matchup. My best player isn't my highest rated player it's the player who I put in the best position to succeed. And to do that I have to look at the match up every week to ensure that my players are where I want them, to ensure they play how I want and that I take advantage of what the numbers and statistics say is my opponents weakness. To be fair I coach football in real life so I'm kinda just a nerd for stats. I leave the rest in the hands of the computer generated basketball gods, may I forever be in their favor.

Tthey have good guards and their team got to the point with ease and got to the foul line disproportionate to yourself. What was your interior defense on? My team forces double digit turnovers evreygame, you barely got any but you also barely pressured the ball handlers so... they shot the 3 well which is also another side effect of very low pressure defense against good gaurds. Your guards are not good defenders so why play so much man defense? Updated Thursday, August 20 2020 @ 5:52:16 am PDT |

mercernd Joined: 04/26/2020 Posts: 48 Inactive ![]() | Thank for the advice! I am just learning so this is a good learning experience. I had my Inside/Outside set to ~ for the team as well as the guards. Pressure was set way too low at 5%. |
