Coming from someone who played newspaper 1990 style fantasy football, what if someone like Steve made a Fantasy Football game that revolved around 32 fictitious teams. You could eliminate bye weeks and have 16 games per game week. Rank auto predraft before each season, etc. league promotion/demotion. Something like yahoo (which i haven't played in a decade) but with fictitious players and teams. Of course the football game engine would be complicated but the sheer number of athletes and management training options etc would be reduced to nothing.

I just thought of this. Steve's already got a functioning pro basketball league. Maybe adapting that to roto style would be possible.

What is the point of roto-style league with fantasy/fictitious players?

Two example teams from 2 different leagues. This is what their teams look like after 4 rounds of pre-ranked autodraft. They have the same rookies on their team because they are in different leagues. Before the draft, Compton wanted frontcourt players so they moved the rookies up in their predraft list and set the team AI to draft a PF #1, C #2, SF #3, C #4. Oakland wanted a point guard so they moved Devine up to the top of their predraft list , and set their team AI to draft a PG #1.

After the autodraft (results not shown), Compton was left in need of players that get assists. They could just tank that category and receive 1 of 12 points in that category, or they can search their (league specific) free agent list and try to find someone to keep them balanced.
League 1.1 (12 teams. 1 example below)

Compton Magic (User Team 1)
Starting Lineup (8 players. Starters +3)

SF Robbie Marks SAC (Rookie)
PF Johnnie Albert OKC (202 SI)
C Rich Grady SA (173 SI)

C Richard Walters CHI (Rookie)

12 or 16 teams. Doesn't matter. Serpentine draft order. Waivers maybe. Start 8,9,or 10 players. Categories would be pts,reb,ast,stl,fg%,ft%,3pt,blk,ftm,o/reb,and turnovers. maybe +- also, since it is 2020. AI could learn to perform trades with itself (ex. LA trades players with MIA), altering your season's vision. Injuries could be long term, etc. coaches could have distinct styles like nelson, pop, westhead, patino, carril. cities/fans of pro teams could have distinct identities, like pho,ny,chi,gs,dal. players could develop more all around statistical games, like lever, kirilenko, kidd, westbrook. any of this would enhance the game. players could develop more specialized games like rodman, stockton, eaton, person, ellis. or become more dominant like jordan, shaq, malone, curry, bron. yup. just an idea.
