After 4 years they promote to LL5 and he gets his salary bumped to $0.45M He's got the attributes I want, I figure I've got my defensive co-ordinator for the next half a decade or more. Sign him up... his salary jumps to $1.25M and he won't be able to be an assistant next season. Same thing happened with the last defensive coach I hired Francis Peng. 6 seasons at $0.20M. 2 seasons at $0.25M. I sign him up as a 46yo thinking I've got my defensive coordinator for half a sim-decade.... salary jumps to $1.55M, and I have to replace him after 1 season. Q1: Are other people experiencing this? Q2: Should I predict that these guys salary would make such a jump? Q3: Is part of the coach's salary based on league level of the employing team? Some general, even vague ideas of how assistant coach salaries change would reduce at least my level of frustration, possibly others too. Edit: Gards on Discord has a theory that because I'm signing former head coaches as an assistant, that their salary might be getting recalculated as if they have become a head coach of an LL3 team. It appears that the combination of head coach experience + moving to a higher league level team is what causes the wage increase. http://onlinecollegebasketball.org/coach/1833 http://onlinecollegebasketball.org/coach/3201 http://onlinecollegebasketball.org/coach/5153 http://onlinecollegebasketball.org/coach/2720 http://onlinecollegebasketball.org/coach/1575 http://onlinecollegebasketball.org/coach/5512 http://onlinecollegebasketball.org/coach/1848 http://onlinecollegebasketball.org/coach/2051 http://onlinecollegebasketball.org/coach/1533 http://onlinecollegebasketball.org/coach/1471 http://onlinecollegebasketball.org/coach/1580 This last one is an interesting case as his wage increase seems to be linked with his head coaching experience and only comes into effect with the team's promotion to division 1. http://onlinecollegebasketball.org/coach/1816 Is this intended behaviour? Or is it a bug? |

AFAIK, there are two primary things that aren't in the manual right now: 1. If you sign an assistant coach that has experience as a head coach in the past, his salary will increase after his first year with your team. This may result in the assistant leaving for head coaching opportunities at the end of the next season. 2. An assistant coach can only be promoted to head coach if he's spent at least two seasons with the team. It's not exactly clear to me if it has to be two full seasons (but I hope not so I can promote this assistant before he leaves next flip) |
