Notes: Angel Santos serves as the first inductee into the Colorado Hall of Fame. "The Archangel," as he became known in Colorado, finished a miraculous career as the school's and conference's all-time leading scorer and three-point shooter -- averaging 17.7 PPG across 170 games played and shooting nearly 46% from the field and 40% from 3-point range. Early in his college career, Santos was unfortunate to be on a team that was bound for relegation, though as a freshman, he stood as a bright spot in that team, earning the Conference Freshman of the Year award. He followed up that season with 3 consecutive All-Conference awards and a Conference Player of the Year recognition for his senior season, in which he set career highs with 21.4 PPG, 5.4 RPG, 1.8 APG, and 1.5 SPG. Though, perhaps most importantly, Santos achieved the goal he set out for after his freshman season: to carry Colorado back to Division 1. In his senior season, Santos led the team to claim both the conference's regular season and playoff championships, as well as the #1 overall seed in the Division II National Tournament. Indeed, Santos has played a pivotal role during his time at Colorado, and he will go down as not only an all-time favorite Buffalo but an all-time favorite Coloradan, as someone who was born and raised in the state. It's only fitting that after spending his whole life in Colorado that Santos was drafted with the 6th pick in the 2nd round of the NBA draft to play for his childhood dream team: Denver. There may never be another one like him: the one and only Archangel. |
