Hall Of Fame Players

Hall of Famer Jason Simmons
United States   #0 - Jason Simmons [ID #17752]     PG
Home Town: Denver, Colorado           High School: King High School           PG sg
Hall Of Famer                     Years: 2001 - 2006                     Height: 6' ½"                     Skill Index: 17
Games 167, 7.4 ppg, 0.7 3pg, 6.9 apg, 1.7 spg, 30.1 mpg
Notes: Jason Simmons is only the second player in school history to be inducted into the Colorado Hall of Fame and deservedly so. "Spud" finished his career as Colorado's all-time leader in APG and SPG and averaged 7.4 PPG, 6.9 APG, and 1.7 SPG in his 167 games played in Black and Gold.

Simmons was recruited in the same class as fellow Hall of Fame member, Angel Santos, and was also an in-state recruit -- thus drawing a lot of supporters to the games due to many fans having seen him play in high school. While the team was in disarray when he first arrived on campus, his last two seasons were capped with back-to-back promotions to lead Colorado back to Level III.

Although Simmons never earned an all-conference award, he will go down as one of the greatest players to have worn the Black and Gold and as the heart of Colorado's best teams yet.

Hall of Famer Angel Santos
United States   #3 - Angel Santos [ID #36700]     SF
Home Town: Grand Junction, Colorado           High School: Grand Junction Technical High School           SF SG
Hall Of Famer                     Years: 2001 - 2005                     Height: 6' 5½"                     Skill Index: 0
Games 170, 17.7 ppg, 45.9% fgp, 2.9 3pg, 39.7% 3pp, 81.3% ftp, 1.2 spg, 30.6 mpg
Notes: Angel Santos serves as the first inductee into the Colorado Hall of Fame. "The Archangel," as he became known in Colorado, finished a miraculous career as the school's and conference's all-time leading scorer and three-point shooter -- averaging 17.7 PPG across 170 games played and shooting nearly 46% from the field and 40% from 3-point range.

Early in his college career, Santos was unfortunate to be on a team that was bound for relegation, though as a freshman, he stood as a bright spot in that team, earning the Conference Freshman of the Year award. He followed up that season with 3 consecutive All-Conference awards and a Conference Player of the Year recognition for his senior season, in which he set career highs with 21.4 PPG, 5.4 RPG, 1.8 APG, and 1.5 SPG. Though, perhaps most importantly, Santos achieved the goal he set out for after his freshman season: to carry Colorado back to Division 1. In his senior season, Santos led the team to claim both the conference's regular season and playoff championships, as well as the #1 overall seed in the Division II National Tournament.

Indeed, Santos has played a pivotal role during his time at Colorado, and he will go down as not only an all-time favorite Buffalo but an all-time favorite Coloradan, as someone who was born and raised in the state. It's only fitting that after spending his whole life in Colorado that Santos was drafted with the 6th pick in the 2nd round of the NBA draft to play for his childhood dream team: Denver. There may never be another one like him: the one and only Archangel.

Hall of Famer Jack Snow
United States   #23 - Jack Snow [ID #23194]     PF
Home Town: Fort Collins, Colorado           High School: Jefferson High School           PF c
Hall Of Famer                     Years: 2004 - 2009                     Height: 6' 7"                     Skill Index: 24
Games 171, 13.8 ppg, 52.9% fgp, 6.6 rpg, 27.2 mpg
Notes: Jack Snow becomes the latest Hall of Fame inductee in Colorado basketball history. "The Blizzard" was also known as Mr. Consistent for the Buffaloes, holding a consistently strong stat line over his tenure.

Snow played vital roles in both of the school's promotions to Conference III.1. In the first promotion season, Snow averaged nearly 8 PPG and 3 RPG in only 16 MPG. However, soon after promotion, Snow found himself as the star player on a young and inexperienced squad, averaging 14.4 PPG and 7.3 RPG and earning All-Conference honors on a team that would demote back down. In his final season, he vowed to get Colorado back to III.1, and did just that, earning his second All-Conference nod while averaging 18 PPG and 8.3 RPG.

Ultimately, Snow ends his Colorado career as a two-time All-Conference PF and three-time Team Captain. There will never be another Blizzard in Colorado like this one.

Hall of Famer Clay Mathis
United States   #32 - Clay Mathis [ID #28734]     C
Home Town: Colorado Springs, Colorado           High School: Ford High School           C PF
Hall Of Famer                     Years: 2003 - 2007                     Height: 6' 9"                     Skill Index: 32
Games 168, 17.4 ppg, 56.0% fgp, 7.8 rpg, 1.1 spg, 1.1 bpg, 31.5 mpg
Notes: Clay Mathis goes into the Colorado Hall of Fame as arguably its most decorated player yet. Mathis began his career as a dominant freshman, taking home the Conference Freshman of the Year award as the team's starting Power Forward. He proceeded to win three All-Conference awards, including once as Power Forward and twice as Center. And he wrapped up a dominant Senior season as Conference Player of the Year.

During his time in Boulder, Mathis averaged 17.4 PPG, 7.8 RPG, 1.1 SPG, and 1.1 BPG. He played a vital role in leading the Buffaloes to back-to-back promotions in 2005 and 2006 and served as Team Captain in his final two seasons in Black and Gold.

There's no doubt that this in-state Buff will be forever remembered in the hearts of Colorado fans everywhere.
