Notes: A very low expectation player that as a freshman only got in to a total of 11 games. At that point Barclay was a forgotten player that was deemed to have no chance of ever being a starter so he was red shirted because there was no place for him on the team. As a RS sophomore he was thrust in to the starting Power Forward role because of team needs. As the teams starting Power Forward and team leader Barclay commenced to totally dominate the Conference in points scored as a PF and also field goal percentage. During the next 3 seasons Zachary Barclay developed in to an excellent defensive PF along with being a good rebounder and a player that had the stamina to play the entire game, which he did on numerous occasions. Barclay had a very good senior season where he was once again the teams leading scorer and best player. Unfortunately the team had a very poor season and he was overlooked for his 3rd All Conference PF award. Barclay certainly deserved to be mentioned in the awards department because he was the team star player along with having very respectable offensive and defensive numbers. Barclay had developed in to an excellent PF and a possible pro, which didn't happen either. All Conference Power Forward Award sophomore season - 18.2 point per game, 8.6 rebound per game average. All Conference Power Forward Award junior season - 18.1 point per game, 9.0 rebound per game average. Senior Season - Over looked for any conference award even though he had great numbers. Barclay was nominated as the teams all time best player due to a 17.7 point per game average and career high 11.0 rebounds as a senior. Zachary Barclay will now go over seas to play pro ball in Europe. |
