The Hartford Informer
Your Hartford Hawks held Berea College scoreless in the last 4 mins and 40 seconds of an eventual 9 point win at the Seabury Center.
Despite playing in Kentucky, Johnnie Ruth looked right at home as he scored 18 on 9 shots and pulled down 13 rebounds(6 offensive).
With this win, Al Lively's team moves to 10-8, 4 games above the relegation zone. The Hawks will need to keep up their performances as they continue their road tour with a game vs Radford.

The Hartford Informer
After opening up the new year on a high, your Hartford Hawks were brought down to Earth. Two back to back losses by 42 and 13 points.
With just one home game left before their 10-game away trip, Hartford needed to make a statement. While the team disappointed in their previous two matchups, coach Al Lively was confident they could get things back on track.
Offensively, the team still struggled, putting up just 59 points, their 5th consecutive game scoring below 60. But, a win was still secured over Weber State, giving Hawks fans something to look forward to before a grueling away trip.

It's a New Year in 2039. The Hartford Informer took a week long break, but your Hawks didn't. They've had 3 games since we last wrote.
On New Year's day the Hawks sadly lost at home to RHIT thanks to 32 points from Jeffery Webb. The previous season's Conference Player of the Year looks likely to retain the award as he is averaging 24.7 ppg in 14 conference games.
The Hawks then pulled out an Al Lively special as they won a low-scoring defensive game 58-54 against East Texas Baptist. The teams combined for just 39-101 shooting from the field, but 12 pts and 13 rebs from Johnny Ruth helped your Hawks secure the win.
The Hawks won again against UPR Mayagüez, 70-55. Johnny Ruth had another great performance with 20pts and 9 rebs, with Bert Harley chipping in 19pts on 5-10 from 3pt land.
These games bring the Hawks up to 11-13 overall and 8-6 in conference, 4 games above relegation in a season in which many had them slated to go down. Still, there's lots of season left, and the Hawks must keep this performances up to not go down.

"We should have won, but we didn't," said Jared Paige, coach of the VCU Rams, in a post-game interview. His VCU Rams(10-11, 4-7 V.8) fell to your Hartford Hawks (9-12, 6-5 V.8) in a shocking upset at Chase Arena.
Your Hawks were without star player Jerry Currie, who leads Hartford in points and steals while holding opponents to 38.9% shooting.
Despite Currie's absence, the Hawks' defense held strong. The Rams shot just 19-55 from the field and 6-22 from 3. On the other end, Bert Hartley scored 15, and Jimmie Cummings put up 14 points with 8 rebounds.
Hawks' coach Al Lively was impressed by his team's performance. The coach stated, "When someone like Jerry [Currie] isn't available you need others to step up, and we saw that we did today."
The Hawks' next challenge is Jim Baker's RHIT Engineers(9-12, 5-6 V.8), in Chase Arena on New Year's Day 2039. Have a Happy New Year's Hawks!
