Jan 18 2042: Utah with a new president - by jfuchs31 on November 20th, 2024

Utah just welcomed new president and 1st timer jfuchs31 to the fold. jfuchs31 is evaluating the rest of the season to see where changes will need to be made next year. So hopefully they can be a contender next year.

Mar 27 2038: Season Recap - by Gherm on April 30th, 2024

We never expected to contend in our first season in D2 but I’m still a bit disappointed in our bad record. I hope that next year we can promote back, and with better results. I also hope that we can make the tournament next year. Recruiting went fairly well, and while we were robbed of our top ranked center, Billy Joe Rock, we landed impactful players like Tom Gardner and late international pickup Melvin Karlsson. We have 2 great players graduating, both may make our HOF, but we have others ready to step up in their places. Let’s hope we have a great year next year.

Dec 27 2036: Mid Season Check In - by Gherm on February 7th, 2024

Vance Foust’s Utes have evolved incredibly from last year, they are now 12-8, 9-1 in conference play, trouncing many teams with a PD over 150. However, amid this success, there is failure. Yes, it may be a rigged system, but the Utes still aren’t ranked even in the top 100 in RPI in D3, despite beating the number 27 team by double digits. Utah more than deserves to make the national tournament, and advance to D2 for the first time since 2029, but if this bias continues, Utah may find themselves watching the national tournament instead of winning it.

Nov 03 2035: Rival deal inked! - by Gherm on November 29th, 2023

After Utah and Albany played a tentative rivalry game against each other for the first time, the players from both teams informed their coaches that they enjoyed it very much. Center Randy Christopher was heard saying before the game that he would “Slam that rock on (Darren Gay’s) head so hard that his spine would break”. Coincidentally, both teams ordered fried chicken the night before the game, and when the two teams inked a deal to extend the rivalry indefinitely, KFC jumped on the train when they heard about this and asked to sponsor the game each year. Although Albany won the KFC bowl this year, Utah looks to even the series next year in week 2!

Mar 22 2035: Recruiting - by Gherm on November 13th, 2023

Although we only landed 1 out of 3 recruits this year (one didn’t commit anywhere and another commited elsewhere) we look forward to next year even though we took a step back in our record. We are happy that we landed 3 star SF Grady Donaldson who will be a factor right away. We have some talented seniors graduateing but are hoping to get RS freshman Bill Beasley some more playing time as he’s been a force to be reckoned with this year.
