Jan 22 2028: Lake Erie College President: "Ready for round 3" - by Stromstar on September 28th, 2022
After the embarrassing defeat to their newly declared rivals, the Ferrum Panthers, Lake Erie President Strom Starhammer interrupted coach Bagley's postgame interview. "The only purpose for these mid-season competitions is positioning for the final event. We were beaten today, but not broken. Preheat the oven, because in the conference tournament we'll smoke them... oh yeah, and take them behind the shed." Without a word, Bagley simply turned and walked back to meet his team.
Nov 20 2027: New Lake Erie College President Shares Vision - by Stromstar on September 11th, 2022
Strom Starhammer, the former Dean of the College of Equine Studies and now 13th president of Lake Erie College, addressed the school and all of Northeast Ohio in a video posted to the school's website. After giving recognition to the school's three nationally ranked equestrian teams he revealed his intention to bring the same level of success to the basketball program. "Our weanlings on the court have been above the bit for too long," Strom said.
Sure enough the team galloped through their first 3 games, until star SF Chris "Speedy" Rushing went lame with a posterior gluteal strain that will keep him in the stables for most of the season. Strom said, "A Storm is brewing and our boys are ready to canter into the conference schedule. Speedy will have his gait in time for the 2nd matchup with the Ferrum Panthers."
It's not clear why that date is circled on the official school calendar, but many have speculated that the conference rivalry will rein fans back from pasture and into the Osborne A&W Center in support of Strom's Storm.
