Mar 31 2040: Shepherd wins IGC 39 - by RaleighRowdy on August 22nd, 2024

We knew this was going to be a tough year, we brought in 5 recruits last year who were either red shirt or young freshmen. The season went how we expected, we continually got better throughout the year and steadily improved culminating Matthew Stubblefield putting 26 on Wright State for the championship. Urbana had beat us earlier in the year and went 0-3 in the same IGC group. If this doesn't show progress, I don't know what does. Our hats goes off to Zach Ball who was the only senior this year and probably should have started most games, but elected to give the younger players behind him more time on the court to develop. He was an excellent 6th man throughout the tournament and we wish him well.

#6 Shepherd may win its title today, if it does, it strangely will have only needed to upset 1 team. With both Brown and La Verne dropping matches, the Rams only had to beat #3 Lindenwood to get to the finals. 4 and 5 seeds of Midwestern and Clark both dropped first round matches to their respective opponents and meeting Shepherd in the finals today is 1 of the 2 that pulled it off in the shape of #13 Cameron. Shepherd has been playing without star Quincy Mills who has been injured after their first round buzzer win over Princeton. That has not slowed this team down as they've got a plethora of other Senior leadership to lean on. The Rams 2-0 Cameron earlier in the series, but many teams have beat Cameron only to come up short in the conference tournament.

First half of conference play is over and Shepherd sits 8-7. The good news is the 2nd half of play they have 12 home games and only 3 on the road. The AD is trying to get the campus to come out and support the Rams in this pivotal home stretch to help their seeding come conference tournament time. He also feels that an at-large can still be in play.

First season since 2019 Shepherd Rams has started 5-0. Quincy Mills has high hopes his team will be competitive come conference time.
