St. Cloud State announces Fredrick as new Huskies head coach -
by klosec12 on July 23rd, 2023
St. Cloud, MN – March 17th, 2033 – St. Cloud State is thrilled to announce the appointment of a new head coach for the Huskies following the departure of long-term coach Juan Pablo DeLeon.
The university administration, in collaboration with the athletic department, conducted an extensive nationwide search to find the perfect, long-term candidate to build the team as they prepare for a new era of growth.
After careful consideration of several highly qualified applicants, we are pleased to introduce Coach Casey Fredrick as the new head coach of the St. Cloud State Huskies basketball program. Coach Fredrick brings a fresh view to the program and is positioned to be a long-term hire for the Huskies.
His commitment to fostering a culture of academic excellence and his passion for player development align perfectly with the values and goals of St. Cloud State.
"We are excited to welcome Coach Casey Fredrick to the St. Cloud State family," said president Klosec12.
"His leadership, strategic vision, and dedication to the holistic growth of student-athletes make him the ideal candidate to lead our team. We believe Coach Fredrick will build upon the strong foundation established by his predecessor, Juan Pablo DeLeon, and take our program to new heights.
"We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Coach DeLeon for his significant contributions and dedication during his tenure as the head coach of the St. Cloud State Huskies. Under his leadership, the team achieved numerous milestones and fostered a strong sense of camaraderie amongst the players.
"Coach DeLeon's passion for the game and commitment to developing our student-athletes both athletically and personally has left a lasting impact on our program. We wish him the very best in his future endeavors."
Coach Fredrick takes over from DeLeon following seven seasons in charge of the Huskies, with the 62-year old the longest reigning coach in Huskies history. DeLeon guided the Huskies to a total record of 136-155, overseeing promotion to the fifth tier in 2028, and relegation back to the sixth tier in 2029.
He has been dismissed following the Huskies worst season since 2023, picking up just 11 wins as the side finished 13th in VI.3.
Coach Fredrick expressed his enthusiasm for the new role, stating, "I am honored and humbled to be chosen as the head coach of the Huskies. I look forward to working with the talented student-athletes, coaching staff, and the entire university community to create a culture of excellence and competitiveness on and off the court."
With Coach Fredrick at the helm, the St. Cloud State Huskies is poised for an exciting and successful season. The university and its dedicated fan base eagerly anticipate the beginning of this new chapter in Huskies basketball history.
