Griffins fail to get a W in a battle for the ages against the Bulldogs -

Westminster Griffins at Fresno State Bulldogs
In a back and forth game between the two respective teams sitting atop the V.4 conference, Fresno State held the lead at halftime(by 3) but the relentlessness of the heavily fatigued Griffins evened them at 50 a piece with 14:52 left in regulation. The Bulldogs held the lead for a majority of the game, but with 1:40 left, the Griffins all-conference shooting guard "Hollywood" Boggs drained another three to put them ahead just as he had the entire game. Both Boggs and the Bulldogs center Baker shot 50% from the field and put up 29 in the box score. The 27 foot shot he drained with 4:56 remaining in the first half is the longest this season. With the entire crowd on their feet with 2:01 left in the 2nd overtime, Boggs hit a jumper to extend the Griffins lead up to 4, silencing the crowd. However, on the next possession, Clay Baker made a jump shot to put them back within 2 giving the crowd just a little bit more life. The Bulldogs next possession was the go-ahead 3 pointer. As the crowd jumped up in a whirlwind of elation, the Bulldogs bench had reached the lowest. Although they deserved the win, they should be proud of their squad for their unrelenting effort to bring them back into the game and take the game to a nail-biting two overtimes. This is a game both teams are sure to cherish and share with their grandchildren the rest of their lives.
