Catawba Makes the Division 2 Tournament! -
by Professor320 on June 21st, 2024
After going 24-20 (14-16), Catawba has made the Division 2 Tournament. This is only the second time in school history they have made the national tournament. Catawba went on a run through their conference tournament and took down top seeded St. Johns to clinch a spot in the dance. They might be the lowest ranked team in the tournament, but that won't stop them from trying to take down the top ranked San Jose State Spartans. Loaded with upperclassmen, led by Senior guard Edward Duggan, this Catawba teamed is determined to make their mark.

Don’t look now, but with their latest win, the Catawba Indians, have won 9 games in a row. The Indians defeated the Tusculum Pioneers 100-68 in Hayes Fieldhouse. Senior guard Tanner Carman led all scorers with 28 points, going 7-8 from 3 point range. Redshirt freshman Bryan Mann and Senior Stevie Ruth both had double-doubles with 21pts 13reb and 17pts 11reb, respectively. Head coach Donovon Cross said after the win, “We’ve recently made some changes to the offense and defense and it’s been working. I told the boys if we score 100 I’m buying pizza. So I have to go call Pizza Hut.” Catawba currently sits at 15-10 (11-4) and takes on UCF in two days.
