Seems the hiring of Donovan Cross as head coach right before the conference tournament has brought in new energy to the program. Going 4-0 in his first 4 games coaching Liberty, Donovan Cross has led Liberty to its 1st D1 Tournament appearance.

After 2 dismal seasons of recruiting and poor performances with a loaded front court stacked with the All COnfernce Ricky DeSantis, Bill Charles has been fired. Hopefully going in a new direction will prevent a freefall to D3.

Not for sure how they pulled it off, but Liberty managed to win it second straight game against a top 25 team. Wilkes has 20 point advantage in weighted skill index. Liberty pounded the ball inside and won by more than 10.

How Liberty is still not ranked in the top 50 in D2 is still in question. Yes the team is over performing but shouldn't wins over top 25 teams count for something?

Not for sure how, but Liberty wins game over top 25 team. With star player in foul trouble they were still able to beat 25th ranked Evansville.


Mar 04 2017: Liberty Flames Claims 1st Conference Trophy - by slengeo on February 1st, 2021

After starting conference play at 0-2, the Liberty Flames claim the title with a 25-5 conference record. Looking forward to a strong tournament finish.

Next season may bring some disappointment moving to D1. Roster turnover and missing out on key recruits may return Liberty to D2 again soon.
