As we pass the quarter-way mark of the conference season its time for an update.
  • SMC (8-0 +145) sit on top but they still have yet to play 3 of the top 5. #3 in the nation in RPI.
  • SLU (7-1 +211) have just been beating up on teams, but they have a weird schedule as they play their first eleven (!!) conference games at home. EIU also got them by 8 on their home floor to show that they are mortal at home.
  • USF (7-1 +99) currently sit in the final promotion spot. They also have yet to play 3 of the top 5 and they lost by 18 to 6th placed HART.
  • FAMU (6-2 +69) lost their first 2 (@PVAM, @SMC) but have reeled off six straight.
  • EIU (5-3 +89) have played one of the tougher schedules, and have lost a conference high 7 games to injuries so far.
  • HART (5-3 +77) have the #6 RPI in the nation, even after their most recent loss to SMC.
  • LCH (4-4 +88) lost to CSDH in the opener, their other 3 losses were against the top 3. EIU and HART left on the first half schedule.
  • CSF (3-5 -22) have lost 5 of their last 6, injuries starting to bite them too.
  • PVAM (3-5 -42) have lost 4 of their last 5 after an encouraging start including the 1 point win over FAMU in the opener.
  • CSLA (3-5 -43) have lost 3 in a row on the road and that road trip continues as they visit SLU next.
  • MARQ (3-5 -70) lost their first 4 by double digits, but have won 3 of their last 4
  • SUNYG (3-5 -79) dropped the opener, won 3 then have lost 4. Yet to play the top 4, and just lost to #5 by 60.
  • NH (3-5 -120) have an OT win over UPRM and edged PVAM by a point last game. Still yet to play 4 of the top 5.
  • CSDH (2-6 -110) were 15 point winner over LCH and got CSLA by 13. Have already played 5 of the top 6, but also home 6 games already.
  • UPRM (1-7 -140) had their win over CSF. Have played the top 4.
  • NC (1-7 -152) had their win over UPRM. 9 point loss to MARQ their only single-digit loss.

Recruiting News

Dec 7 2017 - CSDH -> Grady Monk (3* 6' 9" C pf 91/12)
Recruiting Evaluation: Could be a dominating post player. Could be an excellent shooter. Can be a decent rebounder. Can be a smart player. Will never be a good perimeter defender. Can be a skilled passer with exceptional court vision. Will be a below average ball handler. Excellent all-around player. Projected Height: 6' 9".
Could be an incredible scorer, pass at a high level and rebound. Lots to like, even if he's a bit raw at this stage.

Dec 14 2017 - SLU -> Larry Griffith (3* JUCO 6' 4½" SF pg sg 128/12)
Recruiting Evaluation: Could be an above average shooter. Could really be a long-range shooter. Can be a good all-around defensive player. Will never be a good interior defender. Can be a skilled passer. Can be a really good ball handler. Projected Height: 6' 4".
Combo-guard prospect that made a pretty big leap his JUCO FR season and looks to progressing well this season too.

Dec 16 2017 - MARQ -> Thurman Cook (5* 6'6" PG c 133/15) (!!)
Recruiting Evaluation: Could be a dominating post player. Could be an excellent shooter. Could really be a long-range shooter. Can be a monster on the boards. Can be a really smart player. Can be a great all-around defensive player. Can be a skilled passer with exceptional court vision. Can be a really good ball handler. Excellent all-around player. Projected Height: 6' 7".
An absolute stud that could probably play anywhere. Probably best as a do it all SF, maybe PF.

Some good games coming up in this conference. Yes, we do have a weird schedule. We will see if we survive that long stretch on the road.

GG RickyRide. We fell in love in love with the 3 ball, our bigs were limited with fouls and the FT-disparity (37-6) proved too much to overcome.

Good game Naph. I think your players were trying to be like Steph Curry and shooting from just over half court. Second game is on your home
Court. I’m sure it will be a big difference

Back to basics time for the Gaels. This is what the paint looks like. Our best guys live there. You should keep throwing them the ball until they put it in the hoop. Also we don’t like it when the other team puts the ball in their hoop. Stop letting them do that so often.

GG Holocron. Reid killed Gavin at PG and it seems to have destroyed our whole game plan.

To be honest, I actually game planned for this game and the sole reason why was because I wanted to stay undefeated against you since we started playing each other in Non-Con and Conference play. Also I knew I needed to match size with size hence why Jenkins became the SF starter.

Great game shikago. Was a tight affair from wire to wire but you just couldn't quite get over the hump to take a lead and we closed it out late.

I think LCH has the easiest run home, so you're certainly not out of the race yet. FAMU and EIU aren't out of contention yet either so I can't imagine anyone is feeling particularly comfortable for promotion just yet, though SLU's current position and GD certainly help their cause.

Nice to get my 2nd commitment of the season. Recruiting has most definitely not gone to plan this year, but I'm salvaging something that might at least let me tread water in the future rather than being a complete disaster.
